We purchased this ’07 Corvette in 2018 with 85K original miles. At the time of purchase, it was 100% bone stock. In the seven years we’ve owned this C6, we’ve driven it around 12k miles on weekends with local car clubs, cruises, and Sunday drives.  This C6 has never skipped a beat and is one of the best cars you can buy for the money. Very few cars give you this type of performance at this price point. This is the perfect weekend warrior and a blast to drive. The 2007 Corvette 1LT with the Z51 track pack, which gives you stiffer suspension, beefier sway bars, a 3.42 rear gear ratio, and bigger brakes with drilled rotors. We upgraded the factory Z51 suspension with a Johnny O’Connell Stage 1 suspension, which includes Johnny’s tuned shocks, larger sway bars with three different adjustments, poly bushings, and heavy-duty end-links, which make this C6 drive on rails.
Other upgrades include the MGW short shift, which takes out the slop on the factory shifter and shortens the throws, the  Vitesse Throttle Controller that takes out the laggy drive-by-wire throttle that most Corvettes are notorious for, and a Vararam Cold air intake for better air flow.  The current OEM stock air box is on the car. A Borla S-type axle-back exhaust has also been installed, giving this C6 a nice rumble. We also installed a new Odyssey AGM battery.  Two sets of OEM wheels come with the car- the original graphite set and the current set, which are powder-coated black and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS4S tires and a factory-fit car cover. The factory headunit has been replaced with a Kenwood double-din touch-screen unit with Bluetooth handsfree calling and Bluetooth audio.
Powered by the bulletproof LS2 6.0L V8 pushing out 400 horsepower/400 ft-lbs of torque, which is more than enough for this car, weighing in at right around 3200 lbs. The C6 stick shifts are becoming harder and harder to find, and this is the perfect entry-level C6 Vette that can hang with most cars on the road. Always serviced with Mobil 1 synthetic oil and the OEM GM filter, transmission fluid changed with genuine GM MTF, rear differential serviced with genuine GM rear diff fluid, OEM spark plugs and OEM wires replaced.  If you’ve been on the hunt for a C6 stick, look no further; this is the C6 you want that will put a smile on your face.
Vehicle History and Generation Background
The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette 1LT Z51 belongs to the sixth generation of this American icon, known as the C6, produced from 2005 to 2013. Launched in 2004 as a 2005 model, the C6 Corvette marked a significant evolution, featuring a lighter aluminum frame, improved aerodynamics, and the LS2 6.0L V8 engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque—a balanced combo that made it the last year before the LS3 in 2008. Assembled at the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant, the C6 became a benchmark in the sports car segment, competing with the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R while offering supercar performance at a fraction of the price. The 2007 model year retained the updates from its debut, including refined suspension and interior tech, solidifying its reputation as a driver’s car with everyday usability. The Z51 performance package added stiffer springs, larger sway bars, performance brakes, and a 3.42 rear gear ratio for enhanced track capability. This specific Corvette, purchased in 2018 with 85,000 miles and driven sparingly for cruises, exemplifies the C6’s legacy of performance and durability, making it a rare black/black 6-speed manual that’s increasingly hard to find.
Performance, Fuel Economy, and Torque Ratings
The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette 1LT Z51 is powered by the LS2 6.0-liter small-block V8 engine, producing 400 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, it offers exhilarating performance, achieving a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds at 115 mph—supercar territory for its era, as noted in Car and Driver tests. Fuel economy is rated at 15 MPG city and 25 MPG highway, with a combined 19 MPG, typical for a high-performance V8 sports car, though premium unleaded fuel is required. The 18-gallon fuel tank provides a range of around 350 miles highway. Not designed for towing (rated at 0 lbs officially, though owners report light loads up to 1,000 lbs with modifications), the Corvette prioritizes track performance with its curb weight of 3,239 lbs, making it lighter and more agile than many competitors. These figures showcase its raw power and efficiency balance, ideal for enthusiasts seeking a visceral driving experience.
NHTSA Safety Ratings
Safety ratings for the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette are limited, as sports cars like the Corvette are often not fully tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) due to low production volume and niche market. The NHTSA ratings for this model are:
- Frontal Crash (Driver): ★★★★★
- Frontal Crash (Passenger): ★★★★★
- Side Crash (Front Occupants): ★★★★★
- Rollover: ★★★★☆
Equipped with dual front airbags, optional side-impact airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), traction control, and Active Handling stability control, the Corvette earns 5-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests. The 4-star rollover rating reflects its low center of gravity and rigid chassis, providing confidence for high-speed driving. While not rated overall, its engineering prioritizes driver protection in dynamic scenarios.
Standout Features & Z51 Advantages
The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette 1LT Z51 offers a driver-focused suite of features, enhanced by the Z51 performance package, making it a track-ready sports car with street usability. The black leather interior is supportive and premium, paired with the black exterior for a menacing look. Key features include a 6-speaker Boston Acoustics audio system with CD player, 6-way power driver’s seat, power windows/locks, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and the Heads-Up Display (HUD). The Z51 pack adds performance-tuned suspension with stiffer springs and shocks, larger sway bars for reduced body roll, heavy-duty brakes with drilled performance rotors (13.4-inch front rotors), and a 3.42 rear gear ratio for quicker acceleration and better track performance, dropping curb weight to 3,239 lbs for superior handling.
Upgrades include Borla exhaust for a throaty V8 rumble, Vitesse throttle controller eliminating drive-by-wire lag, MGW short shifter for precise throws, Johnny O’Connell Stage 1 kit (tuned shocks, bigger sway bars, heavy-duty end links), Vararam Snake Charmer cold air intake (OEM box included), and two sets of OEM wheels (graphite originals, flat black current with Michelin Pilot Sport PS4S tires). These modifications enhance the LS2’s 400 hp/400 lb-ft output, making it a beast on road or track. Compared to competitors like the Porsche Boxster S (295 hp), Nissan 370Z (332 hp), and Ford Mustang GT (412 hp), the Corvette’s V8 torque and Z51 handling matched the 370Z’s agility while outpowering the Boxster, offering supercar performance at half the price.
