History of 1967 Chevrolet Pickup
“August 2007 I purchased the truck in Santa Paula, California. I believe the truck originally started life there as a ranch truck on an avocado ranch. When I purchased it, the body was solid and straight with very little rust, except for a large dent in the front passenger side fender, which I replaced with an original ’67 fender, and the passenger side cab corner that had rusted out, which was also replaced. I replaced the rocker panels below the doors as well. It had the original black paint, and all the body components are original. It had a 1958 truck 283 and a four-speed in it when I purchased it. Originally, it was equipped with a 327 and a 3 speed, manual brakes, and steering, and was equipped with the Custom package – the specs are on the original glove compartment door in the cab. It now has power brakes and steering. The differential had the original 3.73 gears, which were replaced with new Eaton 3.73 gears and limited slip (posi). The original 2 piece driveshaft was replaced with a balanced 1 piece. Original drum brakes were replaced with Wilwood 12 inch disc brakes. The lug pattern was changed from the original 6 lugs to 5. The front-wheel wells were custom cut to accommodate Scott’s IFS adjustable coil-over front end; the complete front end has been completely rebuilt with new modern components. The original control arms and coil springs in the rear were upgraded to Scott’s 4-link adjustable coil-over suspension. The steering column is an Ididit equipped with cruise control. The headlight and windshield wiper switches were replaced with a new original style, the cigarette lighter was replaced; the heater and fan control are original, but the control cables were replaced with new. The heater core was replaced. The windshield wiper motor I believe is original, but works fine; the windshield washer control does not work. The truck has the original black California license plates that have been professionally restored. Both the front and rear bumpers and most of the chrome are new (chrome around the windshield is original). Most of the electrical wiring from the taillights to the fuse box is new, though to maintain originality and the ability to diagnose problems, an original style fuse box and wiring have been installed. Dash gauge assembly is a new upgraded high-quality reproduction of the original design and features a 160 mph speedometer, tach (an available option in ’67), and a complete array of gauges. The glove compartment interior was replaced with new reproduction; the glove compartment door is original with the original specifications of the truck. The window regulators, the door handle mechanisms, the armrests, and outside door handles have been cleaned and lubricated, and those that were broken or worn out were replaced. The paint in the cab is original, the inside of the doors has been repainted. The wind wing on the passenger side is a new original replacement; the driver’s side is original. The seat is an original 1967 ‘buddy bucket that was optional for that year and has been reupholstered and rebuilt, though it is not original to this particular truck. Currently, it is missing the spring mechanisms and cannot be adjusted back and forth. The gas tank was removed from behind the seat and a new gas tank was relocated in the rear of the truck with the filler in the bed. The electric fuel pump is in the tank and to accommodate the fuel injection system. The windshield was replaced in 2013. The wipers are new original style replacements. Wire screen has been added underneath the cowl vent below the windshield to prevent leaves and mice from getting in. The cab mounts were replaced; the bed was removed and the frame was cleaned and painted up to the back of the cab. The front headlights have been replaced with a halogen type bulb: turn signal lamps and taillight assemblies Including the lens are all new original style replacements. Horn is original to the truck and works. Soundproofing has been installed on the floor of the cab.” – Dan
